Four decades of scholarship at the intersection of
mobile studies, experience studies, mobile storytelling, CICI Studies, branding studies, and global communication
— bridging theory and practice across Asia, Africa, Europe, and beyond.
Prof. Xiaoge Xu, Ph.D., is a Professor of Communication at the Sino-German Faculty of Branding, Zhejiang Wanli University. He is the founder of Mobile Studies International, the Mobile Studies Congress, the Mobile Studies Summer School, and CICI Global — a platform for human-AI co-intelligence and co-innovation. His research employs the 3M+MMR approach (Mapping, Measuring, and Modelling through Mixed Methods Research) across six fields: CICI Studies, Mobile Studies, Branding Studies, Mobile Storytelling, Experience Studies, and Global Communication. With over five decades of teaching and research across five countries, he bridges academic rigour and real-world impact.
A global career spanning over five decades (1976–present) across five countries (China, Singapore, Botswana, Malaysia, and Germany) — from primary and high school teacher to university professor and international mobile studies pioneer.

Prof. Xu's research spans six interconnected fields united by the 3M+MMR approach — Mapping, Measuring, and Modelling through Mixed Methods Research. The six areas are: CICI Studies (human-AI co-intelligence and co-innovation); Mobile Studies (mobile experience, news, health, and storytelling); Branding Studies (AI-driven brand strategy and trust); Mobile Storytelling (village, city, and nation narratives); Experience Studies (phygital and immersive brand journeys); and Global Communication (cross-cultural media and image). Together, these fields form a coherent research agenda that bridges academic rigour, industry application, and social impact.

Investigating mobile storytelling at three levels: village storytelling for rural rejuvenation, city storytelling for urban branding, and nation storytelling for global image.
Investigating how physical and digital environments fuse to create seamless, immersive experiences — from mobile AI interactions to cross-country phygital brand journeys across China and Norway.
Comparative studies of news flows, national image-building, press differences, and international communication across Asian, Western, and global media systems.
Prof. Xu applies the 3E+PIC service approach — Engaging, Empowering, and Enlightening through Passionate, Innovative, and Creative initiatives — to translate research into real-world impact. This section documents his work across four domains: Teaching (innovative pedagogy and AI-empowered education); Workshops & Consultancy (industry and community engagement); Outreach Projects (public scholarship and media contributions); and Gallery (visual documentation of scholarly activities). Together, these initiatives bridge the gap between academic rigour and societal benefit.
Prof. Xu has authored 8 books, 19 book chapters, and 27 peer-reviewed articles published in SSCI, CSSCI, and other indexed journals worldwide. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the IGI Global Advances in Wireless Telecommunication Technologies (AWTT) book series since 2013, with over 103 volumes published. His publications span mobile studies, branding, experience studies, global communication, and human-AI co-intelligence — with works available in English and Chinese.

This section provides a comprehensive overview of Prof. Xu's research portfolio, organised into three categories: Completed Projects (published books, articles, and book chapters); In Progress (manuscripts and research currently under development); and Seeking Collaboration (open invitations for co-authorship, joint research, editorial partnerships, and conference collaborations). The work spans mobile studies, human-AI co-intelligence and co-innovation, mobile storytelling, branding studies, experience studies, global communication, and brand globalization. Scholars, practitioners, and institutions are warmly invited to engage.

Grounded in CICI (Human-AI Co-Intelligence & Co-Innovation), IBC integrates three interconnected pillars — 3C (Curious, Critical, Creative), 3D (Detect, Dissect, Discover), and 3M (Map, Measure, Monitor) — to develop innovation mindset, skill set, and tangible outcomes in every student. Courses span branding, communication, and global media at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
